Seamless Quadient PaaS Implementation and Template Migration for a Dutch insurance company

This collaboration combined Quertum’s deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Quadient Inspire migrations, and DevOps automation with partner’s strong market presence and understanding of local industry requirements. Together, we addressed the client’s need for a scalable, secure, and fully compliant Customer Communication Management environment.

The client is a reliable insurance company, which is based in the Netherlands. They needed an extensive, flexible, and reliable Customer Communication solution that would allow them to: 

• Create streamlined processes for promoting content and code across environments without disruptions.
• Manage large volumes of customer communications efficiently and consistently across multiple channels.
• Integrate and synchronize development, testing, acceptance, and production environments to streamline operations and reduce manual processes.
• Establish dedicated testing environments to ensure flawless performance and quality assurance before deployment.
• Achieve 100% GDPR compliance and integrate secure authentication methods such as Single Sign-On (SSO) with their existing Azure infrastructure.

Specific Pain Point: Lack of a Dedicated Production Environment

One of the critical challenges client faced was the absence of a dedicated production environment. This leads to creating, hosting and maintaining the Inspire environment challenges.

Changes to documents and processes were made directly in the live environment, which leads to:

• Operational Risks due to deploying untested code.
• Service Disruptions while making updates directly in production.
• Data Inconsistencies without separate testing and development environments.
• Increased risk of exposing sensitive customer data and breaching GDPR compliance requirements.

Technical Implementation Overview

The project began with deploying four virtual machines, each dedicated to development, testing, acceptance, and production environments. Terraform was used for provisioning, ensuring consistency and repeatability. Our team ensured Security and Reliability with Automated backups. They were configured using Azure runbooks, providing data protection and rapid recovery. An automated solution was also implemented for renewing domain certificates, reducing manual maintenance risks.

We established a robust code and content promotion pipeline, allowing seamless transitions across all environments. This streamlined workflow eliminated manual bottlenecks and ensured reliable code deployments. To guarantee smooth interconnectivity, virtual machines were peer-connected, and their networks integrated into Quertum’s main network. This main network serves as the entry point for various projects, enhancing collaboration.

Quertum installed all necessary Inspire components, including silent installers for Designer Interactive. All Quadient Inspire content—covering processes and approximately 40 templates—was migrated from the customer’s current environment to the new Azure environments.

The application gateway was configured alongside Single Sign-On (SSO) for secure authentication. The environments were synchronized with the client’s Azure infrastructure for seamless integration. Extensive validation and testing ensured that all templates functioned correctly and that the code and content promotion pipeline operated flawlessly across all environments.

Execution Steps:

While addressing critical business risks such as service continuity, data security, and compliance, Quertum team created Azure environment from scratch. Each step was designed to mitigate potential disruptions, ensuring that clients’s operational activities would remain unaffected during the migration. The structured approach guaranteed that all environments were synchronized, robust testing was conducted at every phase, and the final production rollout was seamless and secure.
